Creekbend Property Management strives to keep tenants warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer. To ensure this, it’s important that tenants remember to change their air filters every month! Winter and summer are the busiest seasons for HVAC service calls, which mean the likelihood of being without heat or cool air longer if your HVAC system is not working.
Clogged air filters are the number one cause of heating and air system failure.
All the air handled by the HVAC system passes through the air filter at one point or another. As the filter catches more and more of the natural pollution of your home – dust, mold and fungal spores, pet dander, fabric fiber, etc. – the filter mesh through which the air passes through becomes denser. This means that if you don’t change your air filter regularly, air can’t pass through as readily.
Ignoring your air filter can also cause health problems in your home.
If you, your family, or guests suffer from dust, or mold allergies, a fresh air filter will make everyone more comfortable. Also remember the more people in the home, the more dust and dirt flying around. If you have pets in the home, their hair or fur can be pulled in through your air conditioner and furnace through your duct work.
Changing the air filter monthly saves money!
Dirty filters are far less efficient, which means they cost you more money, and since they have to work harder, their longevity may be reduced. Heating and cooling make up close to 50% of energy bills. The US Department of Energy reports that changing your HVAC filter can improve the efficiency of your HVAC system by 5% to 15%. That could mean a savings of up to $400 a year.
Creekbend Property Management suggests purchasing filters in bulk to keep them handy when it’s time to change out the dirty filters.
